January 4 update
Good morning. Yesterday was a very emotional day as most of you have heard. I got a call to come to the hospital quickly. Lorie has two drain tubes, one on each side of her stomach. The one on the right had blood coming out as fast as they could put it back in. The doctor came out with the same haunting words he had last week and that was Lorie would die if they didn't do surgery right away. He said they just did not know where the blood was coming from and they had to move quickly. Her husband gave the go ahead to proceed. When they opened her up they found that a blood vessel near the tube had been ruptured so they were able to cap it off. He said they washed her insides out really good and that all organs looked really good. He said her blood pressure and heart rate remained steady during the surgery and that she did really well. He was very pleased. He apologized to the family and said that no family should have to hear those words twice in one week. He said even a surgeon shouldn't have to "tell" a family those words twice in one week.
I went to the hospital this morning to see how she was doing. Her husband stayed with her last night. Her blood pressure dropped really low so they gave her blood pressure medicine and they were giving her more blood. The neurologist came in this morning and said she has no reflexes at all, which isn't good. I don't know what he means by that. It really irritates me that he doesn't give them more information as to why, how long, etc. It's just really frustrating. Her eyes aren't blinking either. We are so hoping that it's because the anesthesia hasn't worn off yet and because she's had two major surgeries in one week. It's only been about 15 hours since they operated.
The good news through all this is that she's still with us. So many prayers are going up for her worldwide and we are trusting that God will completely heal her and make her whole again. Thanks to all of you again for your support and prayers.

Lorie - I know that you can feel all the love surrounding you. God has not forsaken you - his angles are all around you, your family, your friends. God will carry you through this trial. We have faith and believe in God's words.
Mark 11:22-24 (New International Version)
"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
